Unfortunately, there is no internet connection so you are limited to local programs only. For added productivity, you can connect an external keyboard and mouse. It took me approximately 15 minutes util I was at the desktop screen. Remember, this is going to take a long time to boot. When you launch it, it should begin booting Windows 7. Then copy and paste the SDL folder to your device’s internal storage. So here’s how to run Windows 7 on Android: What You Will Need:įirst download the SDL zip from above. The copy of Windows 7 that we will be using is a portable and debloated version that I found online. For example, Xash3D partially uses it to to allow the use of cool stuff like Counter Strike on Android wear. The driving force behind bochs is the SDL library which is built into a lot of other emulation apps. How are we doing this? This is all thanks to the bochs emulator which allows us to emulate practically anything including running Windows 95 on Android. The performance is painfully sluggish and the app might crash if Windows starts using too much memory. Before you get too excited about playing the latest AAA title on your phone, keep in mind that this is nothing further than a proof of concept. To be honest, I was convinced that running Windows XP on Android would be the final step in Windows emulation, but I was wrong. (warning it is experimental so can damage you file system) direct access to NAND of your phoneĪta0-slave: type=disk, mode=vvfat, path=/sdcard/HDD, journal=vvfat.I can’t believe I’m saying it, but you can run Windows 7 on your Android device. left-lower corner click popups keyboard Back = BackSpace, Menu = Enter, left-upper corner click generates TAB You can also click touch screen to generate mouse left button click. It emulate touchpad on touchscreen and left/right mouse buttons on volume In most cases it is unsupported format of disk image If you have bochsout.txt after start, then it should contain description for the issue. Possible issues: The programm exits right after start and there is no bochsout.txt in /sdcard/SDL - check bochsrc.txt for errors: Put hdd image to /sdcard/SDL folder and rename it to c.img (or modify bochsrc.txt) Extract content of SDL.zip to /sdcard/SDL folder on your phoneģ. It is slower than QEMU, but is rather stable so is preferable in case low requirements for HW.Ģ. It was compiled from stable relese 2.5 (11/27/11) with modifications for Android and my own implementation of sound output via SDL. Its a pain because you have to manualy update.Įmulates Pentium PC for Android. I just played pinball and other games quite enjoyably. Until then i basicaly maxed out at xp64 with 3 -3.86gb virtual drives and the vfat shared with 500mb virtual memory. Someone make a vfat shared folder at 2-4gbs and find a way to mount 3 of then to slave virtual memory and you got a pc in your pocket that runs fazter then my old 32bit tower. I used a whole blank 3.86gb drive for virtual memory and see no difference so i set it to system auto config. Its because you are using actual memory space instead of virtual space. But once to set your virtual memory inside the vfat you will instantly realize a speed increaze. It seemz that the app crashes if you boot with more than one vfat shared disk. This is where things Could get alot better. After 40 hours of installing set up your blank slave drives from your precopied. Make sure you have set your processor to 圆4. Set IPS to 3.333 Reboot and install and i suggest windows xp64 bit. img then boot from cdrom into windows and reformat as ntfs or fat32 i didnt see much difference in preformance to notice. You will max out at 2gb or 4gb as far as i know. I zipped and rezipped untill it was maxxed out at about 3.82gb at that point file manager stops working but leaving the zipped file. To mount a good drive use your file manager to create a zip. But heres what i gathered from using iBochs by luigi b on google play. Im messing around on my windows 95 on wii lately. Need more info on what this is for i guess to really go any further. Cant see it working in windows (seperate partitions) but linux is single directory based (everything is linked to the \ (root). if this is for a linux distro and it does hold its pre-formatted size there MIGHT (keyword)have a realistic chance of getting it to work. does the disk retain the size of the pre formatted disk. you got me thinking bud.what if you did install somthing onto the hdd then formatted it. Not sure thiese will be of use to you but cant hurt to try. How do uou tell it to extract swap/cache space w/o referencing said space to a file system? But heres a link to premade virtual hdds with the correct geometry already loaded It has no size until u install or extract onto it. its not a real disk drive bud just a blank file initially with the geometry faked to show up as a physical disk.
